 NDGAA
Welcome to the NDGAA, the National Dog
Groomers Association of America! For over 34 years this
association has worked with groomers throughout the world
promoting and encouraging professionalism and education in
order to upgrade the image of the pet grooming profession.
Our goal is to unite groomers through membership, to
promote communication with colleagues, to set recognized
grooming standards and to offer those seeking a higher
level of professional recognition the opportunity to have
their grooming skills certified. With nearly 2,500 names
and addresses of Registered and Certified members this
directory is a great tool for recommending members for
your relocating clients, enables you to communicate with
other members and serves as an aid in policing advertising
infringement in your area. The NDGAA Membership Directory
is printed biannually. We began the process of federally
registering two of our well recognized and long used
service marks in 1991, the dog/striped pole logo and the
National Certified Master Groomer® phrase. Registration of
these marks will provide the legal leverage to enforce our
rights and stop unauthorized use of the logo and NCMG
phrase. In this way we can ensure that our symbol &
certification signify the highest quality grooming
services available and that these high standards are
maintained for the future of the profession. Registration
of these marks was granted in 1993. When you rent a car
from Hertz, you can take advantage of special year round
savings through the Hertz member benefit program added in
1995. NDGAA members receive a Hertz Member Discount Card.
The NDGAA Gold MasterCard® was introduced in 1995. The
credit card program designed especially for NDGAA members!
The card proudly displays the NDGAA Logo, identifying you
as a distinguished member every time you use it. Good news
about bad accounts! National Credit Systems, Inc. will
help you Collect Your Money! Added benefits in 1999
include an electronic credit service for accepting credit
cards and a mobile groomers insurance plan for members
nationwide which includes coverage for vehicle downtime!
Free Legal help when you need it! No need to enroll, you
are automatically enrolled as a member of NDGAA. We also
publish "Groomers Voice," the official publication of the
NDGAA. As a member you will receive 3 issues of the
"Groomers Voice." Each issue contains membership
information and updates, upcoming shows & contests,
industry news, grooming products and services ads,
certification updates, informative industry articles plus
much, much more!

Intergroom
The Intergroom trade show provides a
forum for exchanging information and for networking with
other professionals who share your interest in grooming,
breeding and exhibiting. Pre-registration begins February
each year. At the conference held in the United States
each year, Intergroom always begins with an international
grooming competition that leads to the title of
"Intergroom International Groomer of the Year" - one of
the most prestigious awards in the the world of grooming.
The quality of grooming is extremely high and the
competition is keen as top groomers from the United
States, Canada, England, France, Belgium, the Netherlands,
Germany, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, New Zealand, Japan, Hong
Kong and Singapore, compete for over $20,000 in cash,
trophies, rosettes and prizes in this competition, alone.
Groomers can compete in six different classes: (1)
Poodles, (2) Terriers, (3) Hand Stripping, (4) Spaniels
and Other Sporting Dogs, (5) All Other Purebreds, and (6)
Mixed-Breed/Miscellaneous (this includes dogs of
mixed-breed parentage plus any purebreds that will be
trimmed in styles other than "standard"). Competitors are
judged by a panel of international experts. Each year, in
addition to the well-known Americans, several judges from
other countries are invited to be a part of the jury. The
Rising Star Competition was first added to Intergroom in
2001. Met with grand applause, we enjoyed a wonderful
entry in this contest designed specifically for the Novice
and / or Intermediate Groomer. The wonderful and generous
Class Sponsors from our Groomer of the Year competition,
anxiously included this new competition with their
sponsorship. With the special title of “Rising Star of the
Year” we shall continue to offer this wonderful new
competition. The rules are the same as those for the
Groomer of the Year Competition.
