Job duties included, but are not limited to, are as follows:
•Supervises the daily operations of their schedule and their assigned bather or assistant pet trimmer.
•Responsible for managing client flow through timely management of grooming tasks and ensuring client pick-up calls are made 20 minutes prior to appointment completion.

Hi I’m Lori Coates and I’ve been a groomer for nearly 10 years. In the past I have groomed at a veterinary practice, I’ve groomed out of my home, and I even groomed for a while at one of those large corporate chain stores. Nothing ever seemed to work out quite how I’d envisioned it. Then four years ago I accepted the position for the first groomer for the then new Airport Pet Palace. Now I can finally say I have found my grooming “home”! Over the past four years I have built up quite a clientele and now I’m swamped! I welcome the opportunity to share my grooming niche with a seasoned groomer. Let me tell you why I enjoy working at Pet Palace:

The front desk staff books all your grooms for you! It is so nice for me to be able to focus on grooming without the phone interruptions. I also get more dogs done a day than I ever used to. And the staff is great at handling grooming calls. They can tell the “good” from the “bad” from the “just price shopping” and deal with all of the above accordingly.

You get to leave when you are done grooming! The front staff checks out the pets for you so when you are finished grooming (and cleaning) you can go home. We work on strict commission so no hourly minimum is required. No more waiting around forever on late pickups! I can’t say I’ve missed that.

Great Equipment! Palace provides electric adjustable grooming tables and strong stainless steel baths with pull out stairs. Our Airport facility has a hydrosurge bathing system and both facilities provide premium shampoo and other products as well as good dryers. You get to bring your dog! They have to be in a “villa” while you’re working. But when you’re not you can give them a potty break or take them outside to play in one of the fenced in yards. As long as everyone is up to date on shots than everyone is welcome! The biggest reason I like Pet Palace though is the people. The management is both supportive and approachable. Also the front desk staff as well as the pet care staff are hard working and dedicated animal lovers.


Now let me tell you what we are looking for:

Graduate of an accredited grooming school.
At least 2 years experience.
Knowledge of all basic AKC breed cuts and basic pet cuts.
Capable to work on all different breeds. Ability to groom cats a plus but not necessary.
Strong hand scissoring skills.
You must be able to work hard unsupervised.
You must be dependable. You must show up on time and every day you are scheduled.
You must have good people skills. Pet Palace caters to an “up market” clientele. You must be able to relate the fact that you understand that the pets we serve are our client’s “kids” and make sure every client feels well cared for.
You must be a gentle groomer. Muzzles are always used when necessary and appropriate, but no rough treatment is ever tolerated.
