As part of their 200 hour “Career Course in Dog Grooming” each student is given the opportunity to experience the fund of learning in our state-of-the-art mobile grooming van, “The Dogfather." It's an actual mobile grooming business operating in the Southern Connecticut marketplace exclusively for the training of our students. Students with an intent to enter the mobile grooming profession may allocate up to 20% of their school hours working and learning “on the road.” The Mobile Grooming Internship consists of students spending their school day visiting actual customers and grooming their dogs right in their driveway with a qualified mobile grooming instructor in a unique one-on-one learning atmosphere.

The Wag'n Tails van is totally self-contained with its own power, heat, A/C and clean water for bathing. The unit is outfitted with the latest grooming equipment including stainless steel bathing tub, electric grooming table and high speed mobile grooming dryers. The student will learn all phases of mobile grooming including the inspection of customer dogs, pricing, bathing, drying, clipping, scissoring, mobile shortcuts and techniques, returning dogs to owners and operating and caring for the mobile grooming unit.

Our goal is to provide students with a complete understanding of the grooming industry. It is our mission to teach students all aspects of this growing industry. Students will learn not only how to groom dogs but how to properly handle the toughest dogs without injury to themselves or the dogs. We will provide the student with the skills to work or run a grooming shop. We will provide students with an understanding of the dogs anatomy, how to bath, blow dry use clippers and how to hand scissor a complete dog.
